===== Mac Users =====

  - If you already have the software, skip to step 3. Otherwise, download the software from the LaCie [[http://www.lacie.com/us/support/drivers/|website]].
  - Navigate to your downloads folder.
  - Double-click the LaCie Mac Lock dmg file.
  - Double-click the LaCie Mac Lock pkg file to launch the installer. \\ {{:products:pc-mac-lock:mac:install01.png|}}
  - Click **Continue**. \\ {{:products:pc-mac-lock:mac:install06.png?500|}}
  - In the next screen, choose the disk where Mac OS is installed on your computer, and click **Continue**. \\ {{:products:pc-mac-lock:mac:install02.png?500|}}
  - In the next screen, agree to the software license in order to continue. \\ {{:products:pc-mac-lock:mac:install05.png?500|}}
  - In the next screen, click **Install**. \\ {{:products:pc-mac-lock:mac:install03.png?500|}}
  - Type your administrator password. The software will be installed.
  - When the installation is finished, click **Restart** to reboot your computer. \\ {{:products:pc-mac-lock:mac:install04.png?500|}}
  - Move on to the next chapter, [[use|]].

<note important>**Important info:** Mac users must restart their computer after installation or the software may not function correctly.</note>

===== Windows 7 and Vista Users =====

  - If a security warning is displayed, click **Run** to continue installation. \\ {{:products:pc-mac-lock:win7:install02.png|}}
  - In the next screen, click **Next**. \\ {{:products:pc-mac-lock:win7:install03.png|}}
  - In the next screen, agree to the software license in order to continue.
  - In the next screen, choose where you wish to install the software, and click **Next**. \\ {{:products:pc-mac-lock:win7:install04.png|}}
  - In the next screen, click **Install**. \\ {{:products:pc-mac-lock:win7:install05.png|}}
  - In the next screen, click **Finish**. \\ {{:products:pc-mac-lock:win7:install06.png|}}
